"Nothing is sweet or easy about community. Community is a fellowship of people who do not hide their joys and sorrows but make them visible to each other in a gesture of hope." - Henri Nouwen

COTES direction and future (Dec 2009)

*Merry Meet!*
**
* This letter follows a great deal of thought and consideration for the future and direction of COTES. We have continued to grow and change and that requires new ideas to surface. This coven has been through many shifts in the 13 years we have been together. Membership waxes and wanes, as is common as lives take new direction. We have a lot of babies in the temple and more on the way!*
**
* This holiday season I made a decision to take time to catch my breath and take a look at how things in the coven have been moving along. While my family struggled to regain their health, events highlighted the need to gain fresh perspective. This "pause" will continue through the first of the calendar year.*
**
* In January I will be announcing an invitation for a meeting of the minds. It may be time to bring more of COTES' meetings to San Antonio with Pipe Creek serving as a refuge in the country. Those of you who are interested in participating in this discussion and planning are welcome to join us. Those of you who roll up your sleeves to make it happen will be heard!*
**
* Please think about what specific tasks, actions, and direction you would like to see happen. Be prepared to participate in making the changes. Our membership is made up of a few people who carry the burden, and this will change in the new year. Members who make a commitment and follow through will be the voices who will decide what direction we will proceed. *
**
* Several members have asked to be initiated into the Adept level of the coven. January is the perfect time to raise this topic once again. Please let me know if you would like some guidance.*
**
* Last Saturday resumes in January after the meeting mentioned above. In the meanwhile, I am wishing all of you a happy and healthy season.*
**
* Blessed Be,*
* Lady Mithriel*

A 2009 Note from Lady Mithriel:

*Merry Meet,*
**
* COTES members have experienced growth in amazing ways this past year. The New calendar year is bringing changes to promote the further education and growth of our members. Stay tuned to the COTES website for the details on the following items:*
**
* Last Saturday will continue, however we will be bringing more structure to the format.*

* The day will include (among other things) a meditation at the start of each Last Saturday, followed by time for learning divination techniques and drumming. Last Saturday will always begin at 5pm on the last Saturday of each month unless a workshop is added. In the event we add a workshop, an announcement will be made via e-mail and the website calendar.*
**
* Formal coven rituals will be held monthly and will be announced on the COTES calendar only. These rituals are intended for specific magickal workings and will be held on the new or full moon of the month. The rituals will have a format to include circle preparation, casting, herbology, and spell works with a specific intent. The coven rituals will be scripted and each member will be required to know their specific role in that ritual ahead of the evening. Coven dress for rituals is required (street clothes are not acceptable attire). **Robes, sarongs, pagan pants of a single color are acceptable.*
**
* Finally, RSVP are appreciated for events. Holiday gatherings and rituals require planning and it is a constant source of frustration when we are expecting someone who doesn't show or call to let us know, and when we have people show we are not expecting. Therefore, in the spirit of consideration, we would appreciate an RSVP to all functions. The formal rituals, however, require an RSVP to attend.
**
*
*Bright Blessings for the new calendar year!*
